Parents Association Mission and Goals
MISSION
The University of Louisville Parents Association offers programs and services, regular communication, and outreach to parents and families to assist students in continuing their academic success throughout their college experience.
DESIRED OUTCOME
The Parents Association partners with parents and families to assist them in understanding the college student experience, support student learning, and to empower students to take responsibility for their academic and social decisions.
GOALS FOR THE PARENT PARTNERSHIP
Place an equivalent level of importance on serving and welcoming parents and families into the University of Louisville family as is placed on the students.
Recognize the critical role parents play in the overall emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical well being of students.
Assist parents in educating students by knowing when to step in and help and when to empower their student to take responsibility for their own educational goals and objectives.
Reinforce the significance of parents’ voices in the University system by surveying and assessing parent satisfaction through the Parents Helpline, parents website, and parents e-mail access.
Communicate regularly with parents through a monthly communiqué that keeps them updated on campus events, academic deadlines, student experiences, and a comprehensive website that includes:
- Frequently Asked Questions – categorized by campus departments
- Message Board – for parents to help them obtain and share information with the university and other parents
- Comprehensive online resource list, plus links to articles and websites of particular interest to parents of college students
- Dedicated parents e-mail account answered daily
