Welcome From the Vice President for Student Affairs

Welcome to the University of Louisville. This is a fantastic time to be
a part of the Cardinal family. Student involvement is extremely high,
services for students are rapidly improving, recreational activities
have never been more popular, and ideas to create a vibrant and exciting
campus life are being enacted daily.

One of the most popular activities on campus is recreational sports.
For those students that enjoy working out in the fitness center you will
find "state of the art" equipment and an extremely professional staff to
assist you. However, the strength of recreational sports has always been
its team sports. Football and basketball have surpassed all previous
records for student involvement. Where can you find over 1,100
participants in flag football or over 800 student participants in spring
basketball?  Louisville.

One of the premier Career Services departments across the United States
is right here at Louisville. Last semester Career Services relocated to
its recently renovated new location in Houchen’s. Career Services
exists to assist students to find their career choice, improve their
skills, and to connect employers to faculty and students. Whether you
are a freshmen or graduate student, you should find your way to Career
Services and work with the talented individuals whose greatest priority
is to assist you.

One of the signature programs on campus is the International Service
Learning Program (ISLP). ISLP is an opportunity for any student to
travel internationally to assist others in a service-learning activity.
This year 30 students from several different majors traveled to Belize
to teach in the local schools and provide dental care in Independence
and the Red Bank. If you have ever wondered how you could make a
difference in this world, this is one of those ways. Working side by
side professors and administrators the student participants spent seven
days and nights using their skills to help others. One of the greatest
gifts you can provide as a member of this "educated" community is your
ability to help others in need.
