Bonner Leaders
Bonner Leaders make a commitment to perform 300 hours of community service at an arranged non-profit organization of their interest. Past sites have included: all America Reads sites, Chapel House Assisted Living, ElderServ, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Seven Counties 24 Hour Crisis Line, Americana Community Center, ACTIVE Louisville, Arcadia Community Center, and many more.
Bonners have a calendar year to finish their hours. This can be done by the end of the spring semester if students do 10 hours a week for each 15 weeks of fall and spring semester. On completion of 300 successful service hours, all participants receive a $1000 stipend that can be used for cost of attendance items or to pay off student loans. If a student gets federal work-study, he/she will also be eligible for a bi-weekly salary.
