Eric L. Goldstein, associate professor of history and Jewish studies at Emory University; editor of the scholarly journal American Jewish History; and author of the prize-winning book "The Price of Whiteness: Jews, Race and American Identity," will examine the challenges southern Jews faced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as the series of restrictive racial laws known as "Jim Crow" took hold in the South. This is the Naamani Memorial Lecture, held each year to honor the memory of Israel Naamani, a highly-respected political science professor at UofL, who died in 1979.
