This information on Domestic Violence was provided by The Center for Women and Families.

When most people think about domestic violence, the first thing they think of is physical abuse—a slap, a hit, or a shove that results in a bruise, a black eye, or a broken bone.  Yes, that is domestic violence, but it is very important to remember that the goal of abusers is to have power and control over the other person and that there are many other forms of abuse that can be used as well.

Domestic Violence occurs between intimate partners, married and dating couples, and between parents.  It also occurs in relationships of all ages, including teens and the elderly.
