Dealing with It Indirectly

Anger

Sometimes it is not practical or helpful to speak directly to the person you are angry with (i.e. someone who is abusive or violent).   In such cases, you can still release and clarify your feelings by doing one or more of the following things:

  • Journal:   Write down your thoughts and feelings about the situation.
  • Write a letter:   Write to the person, but do not mail it.
  • Talk:   Talk to someone who is objective (friend, counselor, family member, etc.)
