Alcohol

The following are Guidelines for Safer Drinking:

  1. Be aware of your attitudes.  Do not drink to get drunk.
  2. Do not make alcohol the primary focus of an event.
  3. Space your drinks, and drink slowly.   Have something to eat.   Dilute drinks with water or juice.
  4. If you begin to feel intoxicated, slow down, and limit your drinking.   When your body tells you that you have had enough, STOP!
  5. Do not gauge the amount you drink by how much the people around you are drinking.   Alcohol affects people differently.   Listen to your own body, and make your own decisions.
  6. Choose your friends and the people you drink with wisely.   Real friends know that it is okay not to drink, that drinking does not prove adulthood, and that drunkenness is not funny.
  7. Do not drive after drinking or get into a car with a driver who has been drinking.  Choose a designated driver before the drinking begins.
