Effects
Alcohol
Alcohol affects each person differently. There are various factors (i.e. person's weight, sex, and overall general physical health, the amount of alcohol consumed, the length of time that the alcohol is consumed, whether the person has eaten or not, whether the person is taking any type of medication, temperature of the drink, what kind of alcohol is consumed, etc.) that affect how much alcohol is absorbed by a person.
For example, in general, a 160 pound person who drinks for an hour on an empty stomach may have the following blood alcohol levels:
- 2 drinks= 0.04 blood alcohol content (BAC)
- 3 drinks= 0.07 BAC
- 5 drinks= 0.11 BAC
- 7 drinks= 0.16 BAC
A standard drink is defined as 1 ounce of 80 proof liquor, 12 ounces of beer, or 4 ounces of table wine. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 is the level at which Kentucky law says a a driver is legally drunk. For persons under the age of 21, 0.02 is the level at which Kentucky law says that a driver is legally drunk.
