Student clients will develop skills that help them manage the psychological obstacles that hinder the achievement of their personal and academic goals.
(See CAS standards for Counseling Centers -- achievement indicator for “Satisfying and Productive Lifestyles.”
A decrease in symptoms of depression as evidenced by an improvement in Beck Depression Inventory Scores (target = 20% reduction at one month interval or 30% reduction at the two month interval from intake).

 

Counseling Center Evaluation Questionnaire (CCEQ) items #1 and #4 will be answered at a 5.5 average score level

(items relate to overall functioning and to depressed mood).
BDI—II

  -1st given at intake

  -2nd given at a prescribed interval (min. 1 mo.)

 Counseling Center  Evaluation Questionnaire (CCEQ)

(green form of six items, 7 point Likert scale; given to ongoing clients seen a minimum of four sessions).

1.) Vince (VB) to inform CC staff of SLO’s by 3/1/06.

 2.) VB to create and distribute to staff a new tracking form by 3/8/06.

 3.) CC staff to begin giving 2nd BDI’s the week of 3/6/06, to continue until May 1st.

 4.) CC staff to continue giving CCEQ throughout semester until 5/1/06.

 5.) VB to collect results by 5/12/06.

 6.) Findings to be interpreted by VB and CC staff by 5/19/06.

7.)Findings/Interpretations forwarded to Campus Life by 5/19/06.

1) The average BDI-II score of students tracked during the spring semester improved from 27 (moderately depressed) to 11.6 (minimally depressed).

2) CCEQ scores averaged 6.0 on both tracked items.  This appears to corroborate the BDI results.      

1) The BDI-II will continue to be tracked during the fall semester, to further substantiate the spring results
